Who We Are

Background

We have both worked in restaurants since we were fifteen and from that beginning a deep passion for cuisine was ignited. We traveled and learned as much as we could, mostly from behind the bar. For over 25 years we tended bar professionally, creating cocktails and menus for countless successful establishments. Together, in 2010 we endevored to create our own place, an artisanal cheese shop. American Cheese showcased only American made, artisanal cheeses from small farms around the country and quickly gained notoriety as one of the first of it’s kind on Long Island. Three years later we relocated and expanded, adding a wine/craft beer bar and a full eatery specializing in tapas and small plates. We were featured on Fios’s Restaurant Hunter, News 12’s Dishin’ Long Island, in Culture Magazine, The New York Times, on CNN, voted “Best Cheese Shop” by Edible Long Island as well as a “Hometown Hero” thanks to our dedication to sustainability and environmentally sound practices. After more than a decade doing what we loved, a worldwide pandemic closed our doors, along with so many of our colleagues and friends. It wasn’t long before we figured out a way to keep doing what we loved… making people happy with our food.. as private chefs.

We’re Christian and Erin. We love everything about cooking. Most of all, sharing our passion with our friends. Our dishes are made with the freshest ingredients, start to finish. We craft every flavor from scratch. We grow our own herbs, dry and blend our own spices, and make every aspect of every dish ourselves. What we can’t do, we source from our friends and colleagues. The growers, the fishmongers, the cheesemakers, and the butchers. Everyone we know doing it the right way.

We bring everything we need to execute your vision and when everyone has enjoyed all they can, we clean up and leave your kitchen like we were never there.

We are dedicated to sustainability. The best ingredients and the freshest foods come right from our own neighborhoods. We love having relationships with the growers and producers, relying on their knowledge and experience to enhance our own. Our styles of cuisine are multicultural in every way but it all translates to simplicity. Pairing and combining simple ingredients to achieve extraordinary flavors are what we excel at and in the end, it’s our deepest pleasure to simply make people happy with food; to bring joy and a memorable experience to our clients with our cuisine.

We are also professional mixologists and bartenders. Let us create a full cocktail menu for your event! We can pair cocktails with your menu, or create an hors d’oeuvre menu to pair with your cocktails. We can make seasonally inspired beverages to enhance any menu with any style libation or sans alcohol entirely.
